Widek is building on European dream

Widek, a real Dutch manufacturer of bicycle accessories, is ready for the future. The family business is growing fast, and to keep up with the demand of bicycle bells, straps, grips and Qibbel bike seats, it is time for a major expansion. Over the past few months, Widek has been working hard on a new, larger factory facility. With results.

The factory, where 98% of their products are manufactured, went from 5.500 m² to 7.100 m². A big step that not only allowed them to grow in capacity but also put all the factory's logistics flows under the microscope. The piece of land that is used to build on was already owned by Widek. But they waited for the right moment. The extra focus on cycling by corona, the rising demand for European parts and the sustainability of mobility in cities were the trigger. This was the right moment.

The new factory hall will house the new state-of-the-art injection moulding facility with production towers and sustainable cooling systems for more efficient injection moulding. This will increase Widek's capacity from 14 to 17 injection moulding machines, with the possibility of growing to 24 injection moulding machines. There is also plenty of room for larger machines, for grips for example. Widek sees a lot of potential in this and wants to grow in European terms. The expansion is an important step for Widek. They are getting ready for the future.

The new factory hall is just the beginning for Widek. The goal is to achieve the market share in Europe as they have in the Netherlands. Thanks to the new hall, extra machines and logistical improvements, they hope for 50% growth in the coming years. They will work hard towards their European dream of providing as many people in Europe with beautiful bicycle accessories and working on innovative and special products.

After the start of the expansion in March, the new factory hall was completed at the end of September. From the beginning of October, Widek started moving in and internally they have already inaugurated the new factory hall. Now it is time to start using the full capabilities of the new factory hall and realise the European dream.
